At BuildBetter, we're on a mission to help companies build the right products. We believe that great design plays a crucial role in creating products that people love and enjoy using. We're looking for a talented and passionate Product Designer to join our team and help us create delightful, user-centric experiences for our customers.
"We're surrounded by anonymous, poorly made objects. It's tempting to think it's because the people who use them don't care - just like the people who make them. But what we've shown is that people do care. It's not just about aesthetics. They care about things that are thoughtfully conceived and well made. We make and sell a very, very large number of (hopefully) beautiful, well-made things. Our success is a victory for purity, integrity - for giving a damn.” - J. Ive
Sound like you? 🤔
- You love products: Whether it’s a video game, bike, tea pot, music, speaker, things that are just well built… there is something about a great product, and you want to be part of making the ones we love.
- Detective: You have a deep desire to understand how things work in great detail, to guide you in designing systems.
- Obsessive: Maybe you like your obsessions, maybe they cause problems. Either way, there’s something that you can never make perfect, it can always be better. If you get some idea or concept in your head you can’t get it out until you’ve scratched that itch.
- Problem solver: You excel at understanding and solving complex problems. You have incredible attention to detail.
- Growth Mindset: You take ownership. You have control over your life, and the actions and outcomes that you make.
- Always Be Learning: You're open to the best tool for the job even if it’s not one you know. You are excited to learn new technologies and processes.
- Metaphorical communicator: You can break down tricky topics in writing and in person, using analogies and metaphors galore.
- Efficient: You get a lot done quickly and can translate your skills into new processes that your team will follow.
- Quality focused: You care about the things a customer may never see because you take pride in your work.
- Autonomous: You can work with little guidance but know how to ask for help when you're lost. You know how to prioritize, manage your time, and your limits.
What's it really like working at BuildBetter? 🤷🏻♀️
- We ship every week, we move fast, but we don’t break things. Your work will be in customers hands fast, you have to feel comfortable shipping something with having 70% confidence.
- We don't care much about "work signaling" — we care about tangible output.
- We're a fully remote company-so there’s no one watching over your shoulder. You need to be self-motivated, and figure out how to get structure in your own life.
- We’re here to have fun-seriously. We’re not a “family” or “best friends,” but we enjoy what we’re working on and we love the people we get to work with. We’re here to grow, learn, and become our best selves (which is why we give a coach to every person on our team). We genuinely enjoy waking up everyday to spend time with.
- The product wins every debate. We critique each other's work, because we care about the product, and the customers who use the product… it’s not about peoples feelings, and we’re never mean, always constructive - it’s always about what’s best for the customer and product.
- We’re wildly curious. Inspiration comes from everywhere, and we love when people bring new ideas, concepts, topics, from their own passions into work. We love just wondering, and seeing where it leads us. Focus is important, but sometimes it’s what’s in the peripherals that we need to be focusing on.
